Most jewelry writing falls into one of two camps. Either it is brand copy with a byline, or it is a thin affiliate listicle assembled from product feeds. Neither helps you decide whether a 1.2-carat stone with a visible inclusion is worth the price, or why the same setting costs $600 more at one house than another.
We do something narrower and, we think, more useful. Every guide on this site starts from a physical question: what does this stone do with light, what does this alloy do against skin, what fails first on this setting after five years of wear. Then we attach prices and a recommendation.
What we cover
- Engagement & Bridal — rings, bands, and the trade-offs behind the four Cs.
- Fine Jewelry — necklaces, earrings and bracelets, including which designer premiums are earned.
- Gemstones — coloured stones, birthstones, cutting, treatments and origin.
- Buying Guides — cross-category comparisons with real list prices.
- Care & Craft — how jewelry is made, how it fails, and how to stop it.
Our editorial standards
We do not accept payment for coverage, and we do not let affiliate commissions determine rankings. Where a claim cannot be verified — a brand’s assertion about its own sourcing, for instance — we say that it is the brand’s claim and not our finding. You can read the full methodology on our How We Test page.
Our position on AIWe use software to help research, check and edit our guides, and our editors review every claim before publication. Every article carries a named author who is accountable for it.
